What Past Travellers Say

Verified reviews from travellers who completed this tour.

★★★★★

“Day 4 on the migration trail was the greatest single day of wildlife I’ve ever experienced. We watched two river crossings back to back — thousands of wildebeest pouring into the Mara. I’ve watched it on TV for 20 years. Nothing prepares you for the real thing.”

★★★★★

“The Lake Manyara morning on Day 3 was a surprise highlight — tree-climbing lions! Then the Maasai village visit that afternoon was completely genuine, not touristy at all. Our guide translated every word and gave real context. Tourist Lads got every detail right.”

Yuki M.  ·  Osaka, Japan

Trip: Great Wildebeest Migration Experience

★★★★★

“We went as a family of five including three teenagers. They loved every moment — even the ‘cultural’ days they were initially sceptical about. The Ngorongoro Crater on Day 5 delivered rhino, lion, and flamingo all before lunch. Absolutely world class.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking.

When is the best time to see the Great Migration?

The river crossings — the most dramatic phase — peak July to September in the northern Serengeti and Masai Mara. The migration is a year-round circular movement, so wildlife is present across the Serengeti at all times, but June–October offers the most dramatic viewing. We advise on the best timing for your dates when you enquire.

Is this tour suitable for first-time safari visitors?

Yes — this is one of our most popular tours for first-time safari visitors. The 6-day itinerary covers Tanzania’s greatest wildlife highlights in an accessible, well-paced format with full board accommodation and seamless private transfers throughout.

What wildlife can I expect at Lake Manyara?

Lake Manyara is famous for its tree-climbing lions — a rare behaviour seen in very few places in Africa. Expect large flamingo flocks on the lakeshore, elephant herds, hippo, giraffe, zebra, and over 400 bird species in the dense woodland.

Can I extend this tour with a Zanzibar beach stay?

Yes — we frequently combine this itinerary with 3–5 nights in Zanzibar. Mention it when you enquire and we’ll build the combination into your package with no extra planning fee.

How far in advance should I book for migration season?

For peak migration months (July–September), we recommend booking 6–12 months in advance. Accommodation in the northern Serengeti during crossing season books up quickly. Outside peak season, 2–3 months lead time is generally sufficient.

What is included in the 'full board' accommodation?

Full board includes all meals — breakfast, lunch, and dinner — plus bottled water throughout the safari. Alcoholic beverages, soft drinks beyond water, and laundry are typically charged separately at lodges, unless you choose the Premium or Luxury packages.
