What Past Travellers Say

Verified reviews from travellers who completed this tour.

★★★★★

“I’ve done safaris before, but combining it with a private stargazing session on Day 4 was something else entirely. Our guide laid out mats on the kopje and spent two hours naming every constellation using African mythology. I’ll never forget it.”

★★★★★

“Day 5 on the migration trail was incredible — we watched a cheetah hunt from start to finish. But honestly the nights were just as good as the days. The Milky Way from the Serengeti is something you have to see to believe.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking.

Is this safari suitable for non-astronomers?

Absolutely. No prior knowledge of astronomy is needed. Our guides explain everything in plain language using African constellation mythology — it’s engaging for all ages and backgrounds, including children.

What is the best time of year for stargazing in Tanzania?

The dry season (June–October) offers the clearest skies and best stargazing conditions, with minimal cloud cover. The Serengeti’s central and northern zones are particularly dark during this period.

Can I combine this with a Zanzibar beach extension?

Yes — we frequently combine this safari with 3–5 nights in Zanzibar. Just mention it when you enquire and we’ll build it into your itinerary at no extra planning fee.

What accommodation is used for the stargazing nights?

We use open-roofed or mesh-roofed luxury tented camps that allow uninterrupted sky views from your bed. On the dedicated stargazing night, your guide takes you to an elevated granite kopje with 360° panoramic views.

Is the balloon safari suitable for everyone?

Most people can participate. It’s not recommended for pregnant travellers or those with serious back/knee conditions. Balloon baskets can be tight — please mention any concerns when enquiring and we’ll advise accordingly.

What camera equipment should I bring for night photography?

A DSLR or mirrorless camera with a wide-angle lens (24mm or wider) and a tripod is ideal. A fast lens (f/2.8 or lower) helps significantly. We provide guidance in our pre-trip packing list and your guide can assist on location.
