What Past Travellers Say

★★★★★

“Dead Vlei at 6:30am with our guide and nobody else in sight. The bleached white clay, the black camel thorns, the red dunes, and total silence. I took 400 photographs and every single one is extraordinary. Tourist Lads timed this perfectly.”

★★★★★

“Day 7 in Etosha — a pride of seven lions walking directly past our vehicle at noon. Our guide knew exactly where they would be from tracks he’d read that morning. That level of knowledge is what separates this from any other safari company.”

“Sossusvlei, Swakopmund, and Etosha in one trip should be impossible. Tourist Lads made it seamless. The private 4×4 meant we stopped whenever we wanted, stayed as long as we wanted, and never had to compromise for other travellers.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your Namibia safari.

What is the best time of year for this Namibia safari?

Year-round is the honest answer — Namibia is one of Africa’s most reliable year-round destinations. For Etosha wildlife, May–October (dry season) is optimal as animals concentrate at waterholes. For Sossusvlei photography, the dunes are most photogenic at sunrise and sunset year-round, but April–September offers cooler conditions for dune climbing. Swakopmund is mild all year due to the Benguela Current.

Is Namibia safe for self-drive or private guided travel?

Namibia is consistently ranked as one of Africa’s safest travel destinations. Roads are well-maintained, signage is clear, and crime levels are low. Your private guide handles all driving, navigation, and logistics throughout this itinerary. You simply arrive and experience Namibia — your guide manages everything else.

Do I need a visa for Namibia?

Citizens of most European, Commonwealth, US, and Canadian nationalities receive a free visa on arrival for stays up to 90 days. We confirm the exact requirements for your nationality as part of your booking documentation. Yellow Fever vaccination certificates are required if arriving from a Yellow Fever endemic country.

What luggage restrictions apply for this trip?

The only flight leg on this itinerary is your international arrival and departure — there are no domestic bush flights. All other travel is by private 4×4 overland. Standard luggage is fine, though we always recommend soft bags for flexibility in vehicle storage. If you upgrade to the Luxury Experience tier with private charter flights, a 20kg soft bag limit applies.

Can I upgrade my accommodation mid-tour?

Yes — the tiered pricing means you can mix accommodation levels. Some guests choose Standard in transit areas (Windhoek, Swakopmund) and Premium or Luxury at key destinations (Sossusvlei, Etosha). Contact us when enquiring and we’ll design a custom mixed-tier itinerary with exact pricing.

Are the optional Day 5 Swakopmund activities worth it?

Kayaking with Cape fur seals at Pelican Point is genuinely exceptional — thousands of seals in the wild, pods of dolphins, and occasional whale sightings. It’s one of the best wildlife experiences in Namibia and we strongly recommend it. Quad biking over the dunes is excellent for the more adventurous. Scenic flights give you a perspective of the Skeleton Coast that is impossible to replicate from the ground.
