This itinerary includes four distinct trekking and tracking experiences — Gorilla trekking (Bwindi), Chimpanzee trekking (Kibale), Rhino trekking (Ziwa Sanctuary) and Lion tracking (Queen Elizabeth NP).

A reasonable level of fitness is recommended, as treks can involve several hours on uneven forest or savannah terrain. Gorilla and chimpanzee permits are limited in number and should be secured well in advance, especially in peak season.

Waterproof hiking boots, long trousers and a rain jacket are recommended for all forest activities.

Yellow Fever: A vaccination certificate is required for entry into Uganda.

Malaria: Prophylaxis is strongly recommended for all areas covered on this itinerary. Consult a healthcare provider at least 6 weeks before departure.

We recommend a full travel health consultation covering all Uganda-specific vaccination and medication requirements before travel.

Comprehensive travel and medical insurance is strongly recommended for all travellers.

Your policy should cover medical emergencies, emergency evacuation, gorilla/chimpanzee/rhino trekking activities, trip cancellation, and baggage and personal effects.

This package includes AMREF emergency evacuation cover, but a full travel insurance policy is still advised.

Tipping is customary and genuinely appreciated by your driver-guide, trekking rangers, porters, and lodge staff throughout the journey.

Guideline: USD 15–20 per person per trekking day for rangers/porters; USD 15–20 per day for your driver-guide.

Tips are discretionary and typically given in cash (USD) at the end of each stage of the safari.

What’s the difference between Luxury and Mid-range?
Both tiers follow the exact same itinerary, route, guide, permits and activities — only the accommodation standard differs, so you can pick the lodge collection that suits your budget.

What is lion tracking?
A guided research experience in Queen Elizabeth National Park, following researchers as they monitor collared lions and study their behaviour.

Can I do rhino trekking safely?
Yes — Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary offers guided, on-foot rhino trekking with experienced rangers in a controlled, protected environment.

Is this trip suitable for first-time safari travellers?
Yes — the itinerary is fully guided from arrival to departure, making it accessible even for those new to East Africa.
