Mnemba Island Blue Waters Journey

Yes. Mnemba Island is a small private island located approximately 3km northeast of Zanzibar’s main island. The waters surrounding it form the Mnemba Atoll Conservation Area — a protected marine zone recognised for its coral reef health, water clarity, and marine biodiversity. Access to the island itself is restricted, but the surrounding waters are the focus of this experience.

No previous snorkelling experience is required. The experience is suitable for beginners — guests should be comfortable in open water, and guides provide full briefing and in-water assistance throughout. Equipment is fitted and adjusted before entry. If you have any concerns, please let us know at booking and we will advise accordingly.

Dolphin encounters depend on natural conditions, ocean activity, and wildlife movement on the day. Zanzibar’s northeast coast has a resident spinner dolphin population and sightings are common — but as with all wildlife experiences, they cannot be guaranteed. Your guide will route to the best available location based on current conditions.

Zanzibar can be visited year-round. The strongest conditions for ocean activities are during the dry seasons:

June – October: Clearest waters, best reef visibility, calmest ocean surface.
December – February: Warm water temperatures, calm sailing conditions.

The rainy seasons (April–May and November) can affect ocean clarity and excursion scheduling. We advise on conditions at time of booking.
